Let’s Talk About the Infamous “No Contact Rule”
If you have stumbled across this blog post then you and your ex are no longer together. It also means that you want them back. You have heard about the no contact rule from a dozen different outlets and you want to try it out but you’re scared. You’re on the fence because you feel like if you wait too long, your ex will move on. I’ve been there, done that.
I was literally in your shoes a few years ago. My logic was, “If I stay in his face and phone then he will give in and want to get back together.” I was wrong. I initially made the situation worse by blowing up his phone, pleading, crying, and trying to remind him that I was a total catch. Does this sound familiar? Of course it does.
My ex actually left me for someone else. He claimed he was in love with her and everything. I was devastated. I didn’t know what to do or what to say. There was a whole person standing in the way of what and who I wanted.
First Things First, Who Am I?
First and foremost, I am a person who got her heart broken into a million pieces. Secondly, I’m the person who got her ex back after the whirlwind of events. Last but not least, I am now the author of Getting Back the Relationship You Always Wanted : A step-by-step guide on how to get your ex back. I combined my experiences and background in psychology and communications to help people just like you. It’s crazy how life turns out. But any who…
How Did the No Contact Rule Turn Out For Me?
It worked like a charm. I finally gave in and tried it out. This was after my ex went a few months of ignoring me. When I first tried the no contact rule, I didn’t think it would work but I was out of options. I went 14 days without saying anything to my ex. I didn’t subliminally mention him on social media or anything. I just carried on with my life as if he didn’t exist. Of course it was eating away at me on the inside but I didn’t let anyone know it. For those 14 days, I just kept myself busy.
What Did I Do After My 14 Days of No Contact Ended?
It’s not just about not talking to your ex for 14 days. There’s a whole process to complete. I sent my ex a letter (which you can find a sample of in my book). The letter wasn’t long at all. I believe it was a good two to three paragraphs, maybe. I physically hand wrote this letter and mailed it to his house. This is a vital step. Many people think that doing this through text, email, or social media has the same effect. It doesn’t. A handwritten letter is more personal and it will throw them for a loop because nobody writes letters anymore.
I sent the letter and I waited. I kept myself busy so I wouldn’t think about the outcome. We lived in the same city so I knew it would only take a day or so for him to receive it. After he got it, he text me first! I remember that night clearly. I was sitting on my bed reading. My phone lit up so I picked it up. It was him. My heart dropped. This was after months of him not responding and treating me like trash.
It actually worked. The no contact rule allowed him to start thinking about me instead. I remember going on his social media page and reading his status. He said he was “surprised to hear from a certain someone.”
The letter I sent erased all of the damage that I did by embarrassing myself after the breakup. If you are looking to try the “no contact rule”, do it! It worked for me. Honestly, what do you have to lose at this point?
