You’re on the verge of breaking up with your partner. Things have been really rocky but you’re not ready to throw in the towel just yet. Perhaps your lover has become distant and everything you guys do or talk about turns into an argument. You now they love you but this relationship has became very toxic and you want to fix it.

Before we get into what to do to fix your relationship, you need to realize that it takes two people to fix a relationship. If you’re the only one wanting to reconcile your relationship then it’s time to move on. It may not be what you want to hear but it’s the truth. You can put in 100% of the effort but in reality, it will only amount to 50% because there are two people. Now if both of you want to save your marriage (or relationship) then continue to read this article.

  1. Think about what the problem is. You have to think about the issues of the relationship without your emotions involved. Sometime we get caught up in saying, “He or she makes me feel _____ and that’s why we’re clashing.” That’s not a logical answer. A logical answer would be “We are having problems because I cheated.” What happened to cause the problems in the first place? It’s okay if it was multiple things that happened but you guys need to figure out what the real problem.
  2. Own your wrongs. Before you say, “I didn’t do anything wrong”, every little thing contributes to one big problem. Be honest with yourself. Do you belittle your partner? Do you disrespect your partner? Do you blame them for things out of their control? For every action, there is a reaction. I’m not saying that you are the blame for the relationship going down hill but unless you have been 100% perfect then you have to own your actions.
  3. Communicate. Without  communication then your relationship is going nowhere fast. Communication and trust is the base for any successful relationship. Tell your partner exactly how you feel. Tell them what makes you feel the way that you do without raising your voice. Own your part in your failing relationship. In order to fix a failing relationship then both of you need to talk about the problems instead of sweeping it under the rug.

Saving a failing relationship takes some time and energy. If you really want to make it work then you need to realize that it won’t happen over time. If the both of you want to make it work then you guys will be fine as long as both of you lay out the actual problems without emotions involve, own your wrongs, and communicate with each other.
